Angus Beaton, pioneer settler at Little Judique... married Isabel MacDonald, "Iseabal Aonghais Uidhre Mac Ghileasbuig na Ceapaich," and with his wife and family emigrated from Lochaber, Scotland to Pictou, Nova Scotia, and from there to Little Judique in 1801. Their names appear on a list of passengers of the vessel 'Dove' which sailed from Fort William, Scotland to Pictou, in June, 1801.[1]
Finlay Beaton, son of pioneer Angus of Little Judique, married Anne MacDonald, daughter of "Alasdair Ruadh." He settled on the farm later known as "Donald Painter Farm" at Little Judique. He afterwards moved to Monks' Head, near Pomquet, Antigonish County. He had a family of twelve:[2]

I believe Finlay (84) is still living on the 1871 census with wife Ann (70) and their two youngest children Angus (23), and Isabella (25). They are also next door to son Donald (45) and wife Flora (35) with their children; Hugh (8), Alexander (6), Angus (4), Janet (2) and Mary (1).[3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Finlay by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Finlay:
