Benjamin was born in 1793. He was the son of James Beattie and Elizabeth Carruthers.
They lived on a farm Todhillwood near Canonbie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He was the second youngest out of 14 children.
Convict transported in 1831. Recommended for conditional pardon 1844. Granted 1 Feb 1845.
Held Publicans License for the Gardeners Arms Hotel, York St., Sydney from 1854-1860 when his wife took over.
He passed away in 1860 [1] and is buried in Camperdown Cemetery, Newtown with his wife. [2]
