Biography

Ransom Beatty is a part of US Black heritage.

Ransom was born about 1856.

He married Martha Kelly on 21 Feb 1876 in Falls County, Texas.^[1][2] Their known children include:

1. Gilbert "E J" Beatty (1876–1935)
2. Amanda (Beatty) Oliver (1879–Deceased)
3. Hulda Beatty (1880–Deceased)

Very little is known of Ransom, but he does appear on the tax rolls of Falls County, Texas in 1876,^[3] and in 1878.^[4]

His wife Martha married second about 1885, according to her entry on the 1900 Census.^[5] So, it is presumed that they are divorced by then.

He had another child with an (yet) unknown partner:

1. Kelly Beatty (1896–1937) ^[6] His birth may range from 1883 to 1896.

Ransom's death date is unknown. But some "other trees" show 1892, but with no documentation.

Research Notes

His presumed brother Spencer was in a tax record in 1876 in Falls County, Texas, United States.^[7] Spencer was born in Mississippi. If they were indeed brothers, then it is likely that Ransom was also born in Mississippi.
