James Beaty was a North Carolina colonist.
This profile is part of the Beaty Name Study.

When James Beaty was born in 1741 in Augusta County in the Colony of Virginia, his father, Francis Beaty, was 30 and his mother, Martha (Mitchell) Beaty, was 30. He moved from the Colony of Virginia to the Province of North Carolina between 1756 and 1771 (possibly before he married Mary Hunter in 1769). He is named in his father's will[1] and in the will of his father-in-law, John Hunter.[2] The family lived in Iredell County, North Carolina in 1790[3] and in Lincoln County for the remainder of their lives.[4][5] He died in 1826 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, having lived a long life of 85 years.
