Born December 4, 1743 and christened December 31, 1743 at St James Westminster in London[1], The Honorable Mary Beauclerk (1743-1812) was the sixth and last child of Admiral Vere Beauclerk and his wife Mary Chambers. She was also a great-granddaughter of King Charles II by his mistress, Nell Gwyn.
On October 2, 1762, she married Lord Charles Spencer, the second son of the 3rd Duke of Marlborough, and, at the time, a one-year member of Parliament. They married at Hanworth in Hounslow.[2] He would continue in British government for the rest of his life.
Mary outlived her mate by eight years. She died on January 13, 1812. at the age of 61. Their three sons - Robert, John, and William - survived them both, all of the boys attaining ripe old age.
