BEAUFORT, Francis Edward - WW1 41720 - Army [1]
Private Francis Edward Beaufort was a storeman in Pahiatua when he enlisted on the 23rd October 1916 in B Company, the 24th Regiment of the Wellington Rifle Brigade, in the 23rd Reinforcement of the NZEF. He had brown hair, grey eyes a fair complexion and was 5' 6" tall.
He served in France, was awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry in the field [2]
He married Margaret Sutherland Grant after returning from the War. His health was impaired, and he passed away in 1930, leaving a widow and four children.
