The register at Hadleigh claimed that Robert Beaumont was from the Beaumont family of Leicestershire, although Growse states that this claim seems to be incorrect.
He married Alice, widow of William Boggis of Edwardston. His son Michael was born around 1550. [1]
His will was dated 21 July 1551 and proved 17 August 1554 and mentions the following relatives:[2]
He was also named (as "Robert Beymont") in the will of his father, John Beymonte of Bydelston, which was written on 17 July 1543 and proved 15 November 1544. Under this will Robert inherited "lands yt [that] lyeth in Hechni [Hitcham], holden of ye ryght honorable lorde Byschoppe of Helye [Bishop of Ely, who held the demesne manor of Hitcham]" including "land called Havelles according to the custom of the manor of Hechni".[3]
It's likely he was older than his brother Thomas, whose birth year is estimated at 1500.

You might have seen I've been doing a bit of work adding information on wikitree from, firstly, Growse's "Materials for the History of the Parish of Bildeston" and then from "The Beaumonts in History, AD 850-1850" from ET Beaumont.
ETB gives the father of Robert to be John and provides a transcription of his will which seems to be pretty solid evidence so I've added him in as a profile.
ETB also states that John was the son of James and grandson of Sir Henry Beaumont of Wednesbury, Staffs. This is quite a long way away from Suffolk and I haven't seen any primary material to back this up (or to contradict).
Do you have any view as to whether it's likely to be correct and whether it should be added into wikitree?
