Phane "Fane" Becher was born about 1546 in London, England, and described as third son of the well-to-do or noble family of Henry Becher and Alice Heron when he was admitted to the Middle Temple. He was born the same year that Martin Luther the Reformer died in Germany.

Phane "Fane" Becher received a high quality British education and was admitted to the Bench on June 20, 1566. He did not practice law.

Phane "Fane" Becher lived his life during the early years of the Protestant Reformation, and became part of the Landed Gentry of Ireland.

Phane "Fane" Becher married Susan D'Abridgecourt on May 12, 1572 at the Parish Church of Stratfield Saye estate, Hampshire, England and had at least ten children. He was approximately 28 years old at the time of his marriage.

  • Henry Becher, born approximately 1573, married in 1586 to Mary Lyon daughter of William Lyon Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, and passed away after 1618.
  • Edward Becher, Sr. baptized July 20, 1576, who married Alice Walche of Dublin, Ireland and had at least two children, Edward Becher and Fane Becher. Edward Becher, Sr. passed away 1617 at Crookhaven, County Cork, Ireland, His younger brother William Becher was named as executor in his will.
  • Margaret Becher baptized in 1577 and was buried at Strathfield Saye in 1609, two years before King James authorized the King James Version of the Holy Bible in 1611.

Cork, Ireland by warrant of Queen Elizabeth I, on 3rd of February 1586/87, from land forfeited by the Earl of Desmond; He was approximated 40 years old at that time, and qualified for the grant by his position as a younger son of British Landed Gentry.

Phane "Fane" Becher was one of the founders of Bandon, Co. Cork in southwest Ireland.

Phane "Fane" Becher and his family lived in Bandon, Cork, Ireland for a few years, but ongoing feuds with the dispossessed Mahony clan made life difficult and he returned to England before his death 1592. His son Henry inherited his land in Cork.

Phane "Fane" Becher passed away about 1592 in London, England, while some of his children were still very young.
