Biography

In a profile of James Tait Beck published in Wilcox Progressive Era in 1911, "William Beck came from Wales, was a Colonel in the British service. He resided in Dublin [sic] County, North Carolina, and died there previous to the Revolutionary War."[1] William passed away about 1813 in Duplin County, North Carolina. According to his will, executed 26 Dec 1813, his wife was named Sarah and his children Alfred, Elizabeth Wright, Charlotte Borden, Rachel Shaw, John Beck and Sarah Hill, and his grandson William Beck Ochiltree.
