In 1881 Walter James Beck (age 15) lived at Village Street in Newtown-Linford, Leicestershire with his father James (44, Farm Bailiffe), mother Elizabeth (45), and four siblings: Mary Elizth (13, Scholar), Edith Emma (10, Scholar), Catherine (5), and Arthur (3), as well as servant Henry Hoblis (20, Farm Servant (Indoor)).[4]
Walter's father passed away in 1883:
"28 May. Administration of the Personal Estate of James Beck late of Newtown Linford in the County of Leicester Farmer who died 16 February 1883 at Newtown was granted at Leicester to Elizabeth Beck of Newtown Widow the Relict. Personal Estate £601 16s. 6d."[5]
In 1891 Walter J Beck (age 25, Tramway Driver) lived at Clipstone Street in Leicester with his widowed mother Eliza (55) and three siblings: Edith E (20, Tailoress), Catherine B (15, Fancy Hosiery Hand), and Arthur (13, Scholar).[6]
Walter James Beck married Jane Sharpe in 1892. The marriage was registered in Leicester, Leicestershire in the first quarter of the year.[7]
In 1901 Walter Beck (age 34, Cab Driver) lived in Leicester with his wife Jane (30) and five children: Walter L (8), Harold S (6), Ada I (4), Beatrice K (2), and an unnamed infant [Ida] (0), as well as visitor Mary A Brewin (28, Housework).[8]
Walter's wife Jane Rebecca Beck passed away in 1901.
Walter James Beck married Annie Marie Wilkins in 1902. The marriage was registered in Leicester in the third quarter of the year.[9]
In 1911 Walter Beck (age 44, Motorman Leicester Tramways) lived in Leicester with his wife Annie (30, Domestic) and five children: [Ada] Irene (14, Errand Girl), Beatrice (12), George (8), [Annie] Elizabeth (6), and Edith (2), as well as three boarders: Walter Carpenter (29, Clicker Shoe Trade), Jennie Carpenter (25), and Marjorie Carpenter (1).[10]
Walter J Beck passed away in 1945, aged 80 years. His death was registered in Leicester in the third quarter of the year.[11]
