Amy was one of five children born and raised in Chatham Kent by George and Jane. Amy married William in October 1882 and together they had seven children over a period of eighteen years residing in the Medway Towns. During her lifetime she would have witnessed the Great depression of 1873 and celebrated the Coronation of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Her father George passed away in 1977 at the age of 71 and the death of her mother in 1895 at the age of 73.
