Biography

Unknown (Beck) Whitener's birth year is unknown. She and Michael Weidner married circa 1748 presumably in Pennsylvania. She died before Michael Whitener's second marriage in 1787. Nothing is known about her except a statement by Colonel George Monroe Yoder: "Michael Whitener came to the South Fork Valley about the year 1766 or thereabouts. He came from Pennsylvania with his four children: Benjamin, Philip, Daniel, and Plantena. His wife’s maiden name was Beck." Colonel Yoder was born 23 August 1826, thirty-seven years after Miss Beck's proposed death.[1]

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Unknown by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Unknown:

If Elizabeth Lily Beck was born in 1710 and did not marry until 1748, she would have been age 38 at marriage, which is quite old for those times. A woman age 38 would have been approaching the end of her child-bearing years, yet she is said to have borne six children after her circa 1748 marriage.

A more reliable source than undocumented material in a FamilySearch tree is needed to document Miss Beck's name and statistics. In fact, there is disagreement among researchers at that site about her alleged name and some of her alleged children.

Until some documentation is located, this profile should be merged into "Unknown" Beck. I am proposing a merge today.
