Biography
Margaret Beck was born in February 1842, in Luxembourg.[1] In 1854, at age 27, her future husband, Theodore Lucas, also from Luxembourg, immigrated to America, arriving in New York City. It is doubtful that they married in Luxembourg, as she was only 12 years of age at that time. But Margaret and Theodore did marry, and settled in Illinois, where they became the parents of at least six children that lived to adulthood:
Mary Ann Lucas, born November 12, 1865, died December 10, 1899, in Chicago, Illiniois, married John Wachter
Peter F. Lucas, named for his paternal grandfather, born December 2, 1866, died September 17, 1933, in Palos Park, Illinois, married Rose Agnes Hermes
Margaret Lucas, born January 17, 1868, died September 17, 1942, in Cook county, Illinois, married Joseph Feldner
Anna E. Lucas, born 1870, died November 15, 1954, married Alexander Wachter
Elizabeth Lucas, (twin) born January 6, 1872, died August 10, 1921, married John F. Busch
Katherine L. Lucas, (twin) born January 6, 1872, died November 9, 1925, in Cook county, Illinois, married 1) Charles Busch and 2) Benjamin Busch
Margaret (Beck) Lucas died August 4, 1906, and is buried in the cemetery of the Sacred Heart Church, which was built in 1904 on the property that had been the farm where her children were born and where they are buried.
