Biography

Gladys May Becker was born in Canton Ohio on December 19, 1919, she was the 3rd child of John J and Dortha Becker. She graduated from McKInley High School in 1937. She moved to Los Angeles, California with a girlfriend and her mother to support the WWII effort. She worked as a secretary at Westinghouse. After the war she met and married Robert "Bob" Lee on March 21, 1947. They lived first in Long Beach and then in Compton, California. In 1964, they moved their family to the Santa Clara Valley where they established their home in West San Jose. During this time Gladys worked for the County of Santa Clara until her retirement in 1979. In 1987. she and Bob moved to Sonora, California, where they lived until 2000. Unfortunately, Gladys suffered from Alzheimer's in her later years, but, good financial planning on their part allowed her to have wonderful care. Her children moved her to Sunnyvale, California to have her close by during her final months of life. She died peacefully on April 24, 2004.
