Biography

Birth

Christina Becker was born on 3 Feb 1831 in Staufenberg, Giessen, Hessen, Germany to Ludwig and Anna Barbara Elisabetha (Klinkel) Becker. She was christened in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Staufenberg, Giessen, Hessen, Germany. Ludwig was a forester, husbandsman, and vinter's farm-hand. Her ancestors lived in the area of Staufenberg, Lollar and Ruttershausen from at least the 1500s..[1]

Immigration

At the age of 20 along with some of her family, she arrived on 25 Jul 1853 in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Maryland having sailed from Bremen, Germany in steerage on the Ship Favorite, captained by H. Meyerdirk.[2]

Albert Walther (abt.1830-abt.1859) married 26 June 1857, Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick County, Maryland Lewis Walter (1859-1921)

John Pfeiffer (1836-1907) married 2 January 1860, St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Cumberland, Maryland. George Fredrich Pfeiffer (1860-1926), Mary Ann Pfeiffer (1863-1943), Anne E Pfeiffer (1865-), John David Pfeiffer (1866-),Charles Franklin Pfeiffer (1868-) andDora May Pfeiffer (1871-1871).

Death and Burial

16 MAY 1893 Grant, WV residence listed as Oakland (infer Oakland, MD)[3] A memorial has been created at FindAGrave[4]
