Biography

Catherine was born in Germany about 1812 and arrived in the United States on Aug 1854 in New York City after departing Le Havre France aboard the ship Marcia C. Day. She traveled in the company of her husband Nicholas and their children: Barbara (age 14), Johann (age 13), Jacob (age 10) Anna (age 9), Maria (age 8), Catherine (age 5) and Henry (age 3) [1]

Listed as the mother of Jacob Altmeyer on Jacob's death certificate [2]

She is listed on the 1860 United States Federal Census in Mifflin, Allegheny, Pennsylvania in the Hope Church Post Office. The Census lists (all born in Germany):
