Virgil E. Becker, 75, of Hixton died Wednesday, March 4 at his home. He was born December 5, 1911 at Cresco, Iowa to Hardy and Addie (Bush) Becker. He married Bernice Letson of Winona Minn. on Sept 17, 1930. He had farmed in the Alma Center area then in the Sechlerville area 18 years and, following that moved to Hixton. He was a past member of the Fellows of Alma Center; had served as an officer of the Methodist Church at Hixton many years; had been employed the past 17 years in the ammunition supply division at Fort McCoy and had driven a school bus in the Taylor School District many years. He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Hixton; three sons, Richard (and wife, Dorothy) of Monroe; Ray (and wife, Lois) of Taylor, and Lynn (and wife, Betty) of Beaver Creek, Ohio; one daughter, Lois, Mrs. Gray of Baraboo; one brother, Donovan Becker, of Taylor; one sister, Vela Bartley of Minneapolis; and 12 grandchildren. The Funeral for Virgil Becker was at 1:30 p.m. Saturday March 7 from the United Methodist Church in Hixton with the Rev. Lois Buchholz officiating. Internment was in the Sechlerville Cemetery. Friends called at the Jensen Funeral Home in Hixton Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service.
