According to the 1752 passenger list taken by John Robinson aboard the ship "Sally", Hendrick Beeker (a name later written as Becker and Baker) was a 44 year old Mason from the central Hesse province of Germany. Accompanying him was his 20 year old son Johannes. Bernard, likely a younger son of Hendrick, is not present on the Passenger list as he is probably a teenager.[1]

I am guessing at Bernard's parentage here. There are 3 other Baker's who came across that are contemporaries to Hendrick. There is another named Henry a 40 year old Swiss main aboard the Speedwell in 1751 who could easily be Bernard's father.

Bernard Baker married Anna Catherine Irdman on Sept 15 1761. This is the first Baker marriage in the transcribed parish registers. Bernard, husband of Anna Cath Irdman, died at the age of 83 in Aug 1812. They had the following children;[2]

  • Mary Eliz - 1762 abt
  • Ann Mary Cath - 1763 abt
  • Mary Magdalene - 1766 abt
  • Henry - 1769-07-21
  • John - 1775-09-20
