In the 1901 census Samuel was age 24, single and a farmer living in Lenagh, Co. Antrim at the family farm. He was living with four of his siblings, Thomas Beckett (30), Robert (28), Eleanor (26) and Selina (22).[2].
In the 1911 census it appears that Samuel Beckett, age 35 and still single, had moved to his own farm in nearby Aughalish. Living with him was Martha Carson (51), domestic servant[3]. Martha may have been the sister of Samuel's brother's wife, Elizabeth (Carson) Beckett.
