Biography

Maria was born in 1908^[1] in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England. She was the daughter of Samuel Beckitt and Rose Mabley. Her mother died in 1910 at the age of 31.^[2]

At the time of the 1911 census, Maria was living with her paternal grandparents, George Peace Beckitt and Mary Arkwell, in Grimsby.^[3]
