Biography

(Last name is pronounced Zook-er-man)

I have been researching since 1995. After my father passed away I felt a need to learn more about my family and heritage. I have a number of books and documents concerning my various family lines and the locations they have lived in. I do research just about every day. I hope one day to do research full time. I can be a bit obsessive with my research! I hope thru WikiTree to build a clean family tree full of sources and maybe break thru my 20 year brick wall of the parents of Thomas Beckett, my great, great grandfather.

I have two daughters who are my world! We have 4 dogs (Lucy, Pepper, Rufus and Sasha), two former feral cats, Zorro & Bright Eyes and a Siamese cat named Music. When I'm not doing genealogy, I work for a DOE lab in Newport News, VA. I'm also afternoon caretaker of a feral cat colony of about 15 cats which has earned me the nickname of "crazy cat lady".

Since my Mom passed in 2016, I've discovered 3 half siblings. Al was the first one. He is my Mom's son and is 19 years older than me, He was born in 1942 in the Bronx, New York. Linda was my next one and she found me just this past April 2018. She is my Father's child and was born a month and a half before me. Our "baby" sister, Larona found us this Summer. She is 7 years younger and also my father’s daughter. In the past two years, I went from a lonely, only child to a middle child with three half siblings. My sisters and I bonded quickly and are looking forward to meeting. Unfortunately the same is not true with Al. He couldn't care less that he has a biological sister.

Hi Lori, Thanks so much. I'm excited to be on Team Missouri for our 2019 Scan-A-Thon. Good luck to everyone and happy scanning.

that is too bad about your brother. He is probably carrying around a bit of baggage.

Even so I would still stay publically available, his kids ( if he has any) may have an entirely different opinion about things and may want to know you and your kids. I hope they do and your story has a wonderful new chapter to tell.

Hi again! I jumped the gun... The Template Project leader requested a change. To use completely your own text, the variable is |fulltext=

Using just "|text=" adds {Name} before whatever you enter. Sorry about that!

See the Virginia Sticker template page for details.

Cheers, Liz

Hi! We have a Virginia Sticker now. You can replace the Nonmigrating Ancestor sticker with it... e.g., {Virginia Sticker|text=Lori Zukerman is a Virginian.}} (add an extra { at the beginning).

Cheers, Liz

Hi again Lori!

Please replace the Virginia Project Box on your profile. I do not think that the Virginia Project should be the manager of an active WikiTree member, and if the Project Box remains, the Project Account needs to be added as a manager.

Thanks for your assistance.

Cheers, Liz

It's all about team work, Lori. You've done a bunch of the getting ready stuff too, thank goodness. The team would have suffered if either of us hadn't stepped up. Thanks for starting the team last year and accepting me as co-captain this year. Time for a power nap.

Hi, Lori, are you ready for the Clean-a-Thon that starts tonight at midnight EDT? Only a few hours to go, so review the tips and tricks on the Team page and get your cleaning supplies ready.

The page has a list of who is working on which areas. If you're going to concentrate on a location or time period, feel free to edit and add notes. It will help us avoid stepping on toes. Also, consider joining us in the chat thread in G2G.

Debi ~ Team 811 co-captain

PS If you get a "Page Not Found" error when clicking WikiTree email links, the public comment on your profile has working versions.

PSS Hope you don't mind me testing on you

Hi!

I'm working my way through the report of profiles with the Virginia Project Box. If the project box is displayed, then the project account needs to be a manager.

Please replace the Virginia Project box with a sticker... recommend:

{{Nonmigrating Ancestor |flag=US_State_Flag_Images-49.png |ToolTip=Flag of Virginia |addinfo=Lori Zukerman is a Virginian. }

(add another } at the end)

Cheers, Liz
