Obituary:

Kershaw- Aug. 16- Kershaw has again been called upon to mourn the loss of one of its best citizens in the death of Dr. Robt. S. Beckham, whose death occurred today. For many weeks he has been confined to his bed from the effects of paralysis.

He was born and raised and spent the major part of his life at Pleasant Hill, near Heath Springs where he enjoyed a large and successful practice up to a few years ago when he moved to Kershaw. Owing to his advanced age and feeble health he has done very little practice here. He was the senior member of the insurance firm of R. S. Beckham & Co., his son, Mr. C. O. Beckham, being associated with him. His wife, who was Miss Elizabeth Cauthen, and the following children survive: Mrs. Ransom E. Rolling of Kershaw, Dr. Simon Beckham of Hartsville, Mrs. Emma Parsons of Darlington and Rev. E. H. Beckham of Branchville, Mr. Mart Beckham of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. W. F. Russell, Jr. of Camden, Rev. W. A. Beckham of Rock Hill, Mr. John Beckham of St. Matthews, Mrs. R. L. Bell of Westville, Miss Carrie Beckham of Kershaw, Mr. Jackson Beckham of St. Matthews.

He was a prominent Mason, and a devoted member of the Methodist church. The funeral services were conducted by his faithful pastor Rev. R. A. Jeffcoat.
