Uncertain Existence

Catherine Beckwith is attached to Matthew Beckwith, but none of the genealogies of the Matthew Beckwith family describes a child of this name. Perhaps she didn't exist, or perhaps she was mistakenly attached to the wrong relatives.

OK, I'm fine with not merged. Melissa, I'll leave it to you to track down any further information to support Catherine Rawlings being a Beckwith, and the existence of this particular Catherine Beckwith. (It's always possible that you and I have a DNA match through some other New England settler line.

Unknown-540083 and Beckwith-132 do not represent the same person because: There are currently no sources or any other verifiable information linking Catherine Beckwith with Catherine Rawlings. It appears the name Beckwith was originally used as Catherine Rawlings birth name based upon unsubstantiated information on Geni which they themselves found questionable.

Beckwith-204 and Beckwith-132 appear to represent the same person because: Name, date, DNA match

Beckwith-204 and Beckwith-132 are not ready to be merged because: There are no points of commonality at all between these two profiles. However, there is some indication that additional information may be able to clarify the similarities or differences between the two.

I would rather the parents stay as it seems to me this is the right family as I am matching you with my gedmatch kit LM5853033 with 6 shared segments, largest segment is 4.8 cM and total half-match segments 23.4cM (0.652 Pct). That is pretty good for common ancestor from 1600s.

Not bad for a 17th century match. Should we merge the two Catherines?

I am descended from Catherine, see Beckwith-204. Since parentage is disputed haven't linked parents on that profile. I have used gedmatch to test against other descendants of Beckwith-78 and are matching some in the range of 5-9 cMs.

Should we remove the parents on this Catherine profile and then merge it with yours, since both Catherines are the same age, and it's not clear who Catherine's parents actually were? I've been unsure what to do with my Catherine profile, as I got her by adopting a bunch of orphaned profiles.

I am descended from Beckwith-77, Gedmatch kit M140111 if you want to check whether I match you.
