Married Lydia UNKNOWN -- Family papers and various trees in Ancestry tend toward the name of Chapman. Beckwiths and Chapmans in Lyme intermarried for generations.
The 7 May 1787 Division of the Estate of Peregrine (aka Perry Green) Beckwith names Elijah Beckwith (abt 1763 - aft 1791) as his "eldest son." Peregrine Beckwith also named in his will his other son, Peregrine Beckwith. He references "Lydia Beckwith, widow, of said Lyme" in a land boundary description. [1]
Peregrine pre-deceased his mother Lydia (Smith) Beckwith Miller (abt. 1730 - 1816), and in her 28 Oct 1787 will she left her estate to her "my eldest grandson, Elijah Beckwith" and "my youngest grandson, Perrygreen Beckwith," with no other heirs named. [2]
Beckwith/Beaumont family papers (which indicate that researchers were frustrated with the lack of background information that they could dig up in 1980-1990), supplemented with documentation found online
