Cleopha C. Werner, 96, formerly of Lake Santee, died Wednesday at her daughter's home in Batesville.
Born, Nov. 10, 1908 in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Giesting) Bedel.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, and a member of the Golden Eagles Senior Citizens, both in Enochsburg.
She was married to Mathias A. "Matt" Werner on April 3, 1929. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1998.
She is survived by sons Virgil Werner of Batesville, Jake Werner of Indianapolis, Kenny Werner of Florence, Ky., Uriel "Huey" Werner of Batesville, Charles Werner of Lake Santee; daughters Betty (Albert) Young of Lake Santee, Sr. Cleopha (Esther) Werner of Oldenburg, Lorene Brancamp of Millhousen, Theresa (James) Nobbe of Greensburg, Dodie (John) Amberger of St. Mary's, Mary (Ray) Merkel of Greensburg, Marty (James) Doll of Columbus, Regina (Don) Lowe of Greensburg, Rita (Francis) Meyer of Oldenburg, Carol (Louis) Schwegman of St. Mary?s, Ellie (Albert) Amberger of Batesville; brothers, Louis Bedel of Cincinnati and John Bedel of Greensburg; sisters, Rita Bischof of Milan and Anna Mae Schneider of Oldenburg; 81 grandchildren; 149 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was also predeceased by a son, Albert Werner; brothers Edmund Bedel, Kenneth Bedel; sisters, Marie Lamping, Clara Wilhelm; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, where a Rosary service will take place Friday at 8 p.m.
Visitation will also be held from 9 until 10 a.m. services on Saturday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg, Rev. John Nester officiating.
Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Oldenburg.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Family Scholarship Fund.
