Biography

Calvin married Malinda McDonald in Kentucky. They had eight children. Calvin and Malinda are buried in Bedel Cemetery, Uniontown, Jackson, Indiana. ^{[1] [2]}

In 1850, the Bedel family lived in Vernon, Indiana. The household included Calvin Beedle (BEDEL), 41, born in Kentucky, a farmer with $250 in real estate; his wife Malinda, 41, born in Kentucky, who could not read or write; their six children, all born in Indiana, John A., 15; Martin J., 13; Daniel, 11; Rhode A., 7; James W., 5; and Samuel, 1. All but the youngest two children were in school. ^[3]

In 1860, the Bedel family lived in Vernon Township, Indiana. The household included Calvin Beadle (BEDEL), 50, a farmer with $3750 in real estate and $1000 in personal estate; his wife Malinda, 50; their four children, all born in Indiana, Martin J., 23, a day laborer; Daniel, 20; Rhoda Ann, 17, a seamstress, and James W., 15. All the children were in school. Living nearby were several other Beadle/Bedel families. ^[4]
