John was born in 1831. He married Maria H. Sprague on 18 Sep 1861 in Erie, Ohio,[1] and they had three children:

Lucas John Beecher (1870–1954)
Janet Sprague (Beecher) (1872–Deceased)
John became an attorney and served his community for over fifty years. OLDEST MEMBER OF BAR IS DEAD
J. T. Beecher Expires at Good Samaritan Hospital After a Long Illness.
Practiced in County and State Courts for 50 Years.
John Turk Beecher, the oldest member of the Erie county bar and one of the oldest Sandusky-born citizens, died at Good Samaritan Hospital Wednesday night at 8 o'clock. He was in his eightieth year. For more than eight years Mr. Beecher's health has been failing.

John T. Beecher is survived by a widow and two children, Lucas J. Beecher, Columbus correspondent of the Toledo Blade and Mrs. Janet Beecher Wilcox, wife of Merrit S. Wilcox.[3]
