Frederick Beechey is Notable.

Frederick was born in 1796. He was the son of Sir William Beechey [1] a renowned painter, and his second wife Anne Phyllis Jessop who was a successful miniature painter.

He married Charlotte Stapleton on 11 December 1828.

Frederick explored many areas of coastline around the world and conducted an overland survey of the Mediterranean coast of Africa with his older brother Henry William Beechey (half-brother). In 1854, he was made rear-admiral, and in the following year was elected president of the Royal Geographical Society.

His son Frederick Stapleton Beechey and George Beechey accompanied his brother Henry to New Zealand when he emigrated in 1851. Rear Admiral Beechey died in 1856.
