Emily Beer was born in October 1870 in Alphington, Devon, England.^[1] Her parents were William Beer and Mary Leach. ^[2]

In 1871, when she was less than a year old she was recorded during the England Census with her parents and four older siblings at their home in Alphington, Devon. ^[3]

In 1881 she was ten years old and attending school while living with her parents and five siblings. Some of her older siblings were out working in domestic/servant roles in the community. ^[4]

By 1891 she was working as a domestic servant herself at the Veysey residence on Pennsylvania Road in Exeter, Devon, England, United Kingdom. ^[5]

In 1893 Emily Louisa Beer married recently widowed George Ireland on 20 Nov 1893 at the General Registry Office in Exeter, Devon, England, United Kingdom. ^[6]
