Herbert was born in 25 May 1894 in Rockhampton, Queensland. He was the son of Arthur Wills Beer and Rose Edith Newman.^[1][2]

He married Ethel Mrytle Veronica Williams in 1919 in Victoria, Australia.^[3][4]

In 1919 he was living in Williamstown Rd, Footscray, Victoria^[5] Between 1924 and 15 April 1926 he was living at 14 Bayswater Rd, Kensington, Victoria.^[6] Between 1931 and 1954 he was a butcher residing at 1 Hopetoun St, Moonee Ponds, Victoria^[5]

He died in 1969 in Victoria aged 74 and was buried on 2 May 1969 at Fawkner, Victoria, Australia. ^[1][7][8]
