Biography

Betty Beeson was born 30 Jul 1754 in Guilford, North Carolina.[1] It is frequently seen that she was born in Virginia but her parents had moved their meeting membership from Virginia to North Carolina in 1752. It should be noted that the birth as recorded in New Garden Monthly Meeting lists her name simply as Betty. There were several Elizabeth Beesons in the extended family but in her father's Will she is listed as Betty. Monthly Meeting minutes are generally (but not always) quite specific when listing the given name at birth.

Elizabeth was born in Guilford, North Carolina rather than Virginia which had been listed. See the MM membership transfers of her parents which put the family in NC sometime in 1752. Her birth record is found in the Guilford MM minutes rather than Hopewell in Virginia.

So far not able to find any corroboration of the marriage listed here which was mostly likely in NC and not Virginia.

John Bond had a second wife named Elizabeth. It is thought by some to be Elizabeth Beeson, sister of his first wife Jane Beeson. Elizabeth is mentioned in John's Will along with their one child Charity. There is currently no document definitively showing that Elizabeth's last name was Beeson. That marriage occurred 1792 or 1793. Charity was born 1793 by US Mortality Census estimate.
