Notes

Quoted from Styles:
Joseph Lamb was born in 1735 in Nansemond County, VA. He was married to Frances Beeson (daughter of Benjamin Beeson Sr and "Betty" Elizabeth Hunter) on 23 Jul 1761 at the New Garden MH, Guilford Co, NC. There are a good number of researchers who show the marriage occurring in Pasquotank or Perquimans County. This, simply, is in error. Their marriage record, from the archives of Guilford College, Greensboro NC, New Garden Monthly Meeting Minutes, Volume 1 proves otherwise:
"Whereas I Joseph Lamb, son of Henry Lamb, deceased, of Roan [Rowan] County North Carolina, and Frances Beeson, daughter of Benjamin Beeson of the same place, having declared their intentions of marriage with each other before several Monthly Meetings of the people called Quakers held at New Garden and having consent of parents and parties concerned that said proposals was approved and allowed of by said meetings, & they left to their Liberty to accomplish their marriage according to good order; they which they did on the 23rd day of the 7th month [September - March being the 1st month of the Quaker calendar year] 1761 at Center Meeting House in the preferred way with many witnesses, 12 of whose names are here entered below:
{Signed}

Richard Beeson[grandfather of the bride]

John Nation"
Also, see Hinshaw, Vol I, NC, pp. 526, 556, New Garden Monthly Meeting.
The New Garden [Rowan County, present-day Guilford County] Quaker marriage announcement:
“Joseph Lamb, son of Henry, deceased, Rowan County, married Frances Beeson, daughter of Benjamin, same place, 23 July 1761. Witnesses Richard Beeson [her grandfather], Thomas Lamb, Benjamin Beeson [her father], Elizabeth Lamb [his mother], and others.” It was Joseph’s sister Bethia Lamb who had married Frances’ brother Benjamin Beeson.
Joseph appears in the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriots Index for Patriotic Service, indicating he provided a non-military service, such as a provider of goods or services, also noting his marriage to Frances Beeson. DAR Patriot Index - Centennial Edition, Part 2, p.1730. Frances Beeson was born on 10 Feb 1745 in Hopewell (Opequon), Frederick, VA. She died before 1820 in Randolph County, NC...
Joseph Lamb,... died on 25 Nov 1820 in Randolph County, NC. His estate was probated in Dec 1820 at Asheboro, Randolph, NC.
He did not name his wife Frances in his will, so it may be presumed that she predeceased him.
There are mentions of Joseph, Jacob, Thomas, and Henry Lamb, 4 June 1760 regarding move to New Garden, in the Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Perquimans Monthly Meeting; also, 29 November 1760, New Garden Monthly Meeting, Perquimans County for Joseph, Jacob and Thomas. The children and their birth dates of Joseph and Frances Beeson Lamb are named in the Center Monthly Meeting, Guilford County NC, page 660. Census: Randolph County, NC; 1790 p98, 1800 p328, 1810 p172. The Colonial Records of North Carolina, Secretary of State, Vol IX, p41.

He states that he has filled in those blanks for this couple as best as he could.
Styles also discusses the many interconnections and documented close relationships of the Lamb, Beeson, Nation, Robbins, and Vickrey families of that time and place (p. 35-6) and gives the full text of Joseph Lamb's will (p. 37-8).

Frances was born in 1744. She passed away in 1820.

Guilford county did not exist at the dates of her birth and marriage. It was formed in 1771 from parts of Rowan and Orange counties Wikipedia.

Guilford College is a college, not a town (it's in Greensboro) Wikipedia. It was founded by Quakers in 1837, at least 17 years after her death. Some records pertaining to her life can be found in the archives of the college.
