Biography

Peter Begg is a member of Clan MacDonald.
This profile is part of the Watten, Caithness One Place Study.

Peter Begg of "Tostinghall" (Toftinghall) in Watten, married Katharine Smith in Watten, Caithness, on 16 September 1810. Banns were read on 21 August 1810.[1]

Peter Begg was named as the father of Margaret Begg on her 1828 baptism record.

In 1841 Peter Begg was living in Houstry of Dunn, in the parish of Watten, Caithness, where he was a farmer. Recorded with him on the census return were his wife Catharine, children William, Andrew, Peter, Catharine, Jean and Margaret. A William Sinclair (a farm labourer) was also listed as living with the family and was presumably working for Peter Begg at that time.[2]

From 1810 to 1828 lived at Toftingall, Watten. 1828 lived at Houstry, Watten

Begg-652 and Begg-409 appear to represent the same person because: This is the same person based on Watten parish and census records. The family history book has incorrect information in it. Please approve the merge but suggest keeping the incorrect family history book (with an explanatory note) as a source since it may avoid confusion in the future or duplicate profiles. Thanks!
