Biography

Mary Begg was born about 1826 in Kemnay. She married Adam Duncan 02 Jun 1849 in Bourtie. They had at least 9 children - James, Adam, Robert, Mary Ann, Jane, Ann, George, William and John. In the 1851 census, Adam, age 30, an Agricultural Labourer, and Mary are at Burngrains in Methlick with their children James and Adam. In the 1861 census, Adam and Mary are still at Burngrains with their children Adam, Robert, Mary, Jane, Ann and George. In the 1871 census, now at Sauchentree in Methlick, Adam, age 47, a Farmer of 6 arable acres, is with is wife Mary and their children Mary, Jane, Ann, George, William and John. In the 1881census, back to Burngrains Croft, Adam and Mary, age 52, are with their children Ann, George, John, and grandchildren Helen Duncan (son Adam's daughter) and John Irvin.
