When did the name spelling change? I cannot find Frederick Charles's birth in the online NZ BDM under either spelling, nor under the spelling as shown for the marriage registration.

(Caution should be applied, as at least one ancestry "tree" has attached an 1886 England baptismal record to this Frederick that cannot be him. Firstly, it was in England at a time when the family was clearly in NZ. Secondly that father was deceased at the time (1886), whereas Johann Friedrich aka John Frederick died in New Zealand in 1890.)

So still looking!
