Guillaume (Belec leBellet) Belec dit le Bellet lived
in Canada, Nouvelle-France.

Guillaume was born around 1663 in Plouvien (St-Pol-de-Léon diocese), Brittany, France. He went to New France for a better life in 1684. When Guillaume arrived in New France, Batiscan, the port that was located at the mouth of the river and small Village Station were at the heart of economic activity. We know that Guillaume was the owner of land, so he was a farmer, but in another any register there would be a statement: man he engagé. (hired). We saw its first tracks in Batiscan Lorse that he married November 24, 1687, Gabrielle Baribault (born 17 Dec. 1672 in Charlesbourg). From this union were born four children, the first 2 of them died in infancy, then come François in 1691 and Louis Belec in 1694 in Batiscan.

Guillaume Le Bellet Bélec died at the age of 30, January 27, 1695 .His wife, Gabrielle Baribault then married June 3, 1697 with Paul Bertrand dit St-Arnaud native of Ste-Madeleine de Verneuil-sur-Avre, Normandy . After marriage, Paul Bertrand moved in the house of Guillaume Le Bellec, close to the "great land of Massicotte," on the north bank of the Batiscan River, between the houses of Mathurin Rivard dit Feuilleverte and Jacques Rouillard dit Saint-Cyr. However, the husband of Gabrielle Baribault obtained in the official title on July 24, 1708. On that date, Pierre Lafond dit Mongrain, on behalf of Father Pierre Raffeix, Attorney Jesuit lords, give him a land of four acres of front. From this union will be born eight children.

August 4, 1710, Gabrielle Baribeau will be obliged to make an inventory of goods from William the Bellet Bélec in order to facilitate minor children of the latter. The list of these properties includes two oxen, two cows, a pig, two sickles. as well as cookware, lingerie, gun, etc. Translation from French
