Samuel was born about 1780, estimated from age at death and from a Poor Law removal order for his family in 1783 where his age was given as two years. He may have been born at Sheen, Staffordshire, where his two elder brothers were born.[1]
He married Ann Green on 27 April 1814 at Prestbury, Cheshire. Marriage by banns, both of Macclesfield, he a husbandman, she a spinster. Both signed. witnesses Richard Green and Jane Garside.[2] They returned to Sheen within a couple of years, where they had children Luke, Joseph, Isaac, Samuel, Ann, and Sarah.
Samuel died in 1837 and was buried at Sheen, Staffordshire, on 3 April 1837, aged 56 years.[3]
