Biography

Ralph was born 14 Aug 1871 in Perry, Lake, Ohio. He was the son of Eliphalet Belknap and Anna Tyler.^[1][2][3]

In 1880 he was living in Perry, Lake, Ohio.^[4] The household included E Stratton Belknap age 33 a farmer born in Ohio, his wife Anna O Belknap age 36 born in Ohio, son Ralph S Belknap age 8 born in Ohio, daughter Eliza M Belknap age 5 born in Ohio, his uncle Eliphalet Stratton age 76 born in Vermont and his aunt Maria Stratton age 67 born in New York.

On 10 Oct 1896 he applied for membership in the Sons of the American Revolution, based on the service of Calvin Belknap.^[5] He was the son of Eliphalet Stratton Belknap and Anna Tyler, grandson of Norton Belknap and Desire Mead, and great grandson of Calvin Belknap and Bathshua Larabee.

He married Ruth U Houseman 24 Oct 1901 in Franklin County, Ohio. She was born in Senecaville, Ohio, the daughter of Charles H Houseman and Martha Unitot.^[6][7]

In 1910 he was a bookkeeper in a hardware store living in Painesville , Lake, Ohio.^[8] The household included Ralph S Belknap age 38, his wife Ruth H Belknap age 34, and daughter Martha H Belknap age 3. All were born in Ohio. Ruth was a school teacher.

In 1920 in Painesville, Lake, Ohio^[9] the household included Ralph S Belknap age 48, his wife Ruth Belknap age 44, daughter Martha Belknap age 13 and daughter Helen Belknap age 4. He was working as a secretary in a hardware store. In 1930 in Painesville^[10] the household included Ralph age 58, Ruth age 54, daughter Helen age 14 and lodger Margaret S Lindsey age 23. He was still working at the hardware. In 1940 in Perry, Lake, Ohio^[11] the household included Ralph age 68 and Ruth age 64. He was farming.

He died 11 July 1950 in Perry, Ohio.^[12]
