Mary Belknap was born January 9, 1740, a daughter of Samuel and Lydia Belnap. On August 6, 1742, in Newburgh, New York, Mary married James Stickney, born August 6, 1742, in Tewsbury, Massachusetts. Mary's husband was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, and several of their children became members of the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
