Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Free-Space_Profile Free Space pages] are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom…… They’re “anything pages.”

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out ourBiography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Lastly, sometimes you’ll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Shirley Dalton, WikiTree Mentor

Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

When creating profiles, remember to add where you found the information. See: Sources

And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Hello

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

By signing the Honor Code you're telling others you are a responsible Wiki genealogist.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Have a nice journey on Wikitree,

Guy - Wikitree Mentor / Leader

Hi Tim, I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to great information about GEDCompare, the process of adding a GEDCOM to WikiTree, that you might find helpful. Also, 'Before you import a GEDCOM'

Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There is also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall

Sources are very important, so please be sure to include the sources used, on each profile you add.

It is a good idea to enter a few of your ancestors manually, to get used to how WikiTree works. Then, you could upload a small portion of your tree, with a gedcom, to see how that works. There is always editing needed after a Gedcom import, so fewer profiles will make that task easier.

P.S. WikiTree has a project for DNA that you might find of interest. To check it out, go to the FIND link top right of your profile page, select PROJECTS from the drop-down menu, and then click the link to the DNA project. In addition to information that may be of interest to you, the project page has a list of members you can contact if you would like additional details.

Cheers, Liz

Hi and Welcome Tim!

I’m so glad you found us. To become a full member (aka Wiki Genealogist), you’ll need to sign the Honor Code. For a list of helpful links, please click my name and check out the links I list under my "Greeter" section - especially the Sources links and the link to Debby, a former greeter, who has helpful information on her profile page also. If you get stuck on anything and can't find an answer in WikiTree Help, you can post to the G2G forum or give me a holler.

Thank you for joining our collaborative tree!

Remember that our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please look for duplicates before adding a profile.

Enjoy!

I first converted my sister's records of our family tree to FamilyWeb format in 1999; I'm now looking to add all that info to WikiTree to share and hopefully increase our knowledge of our family history.

I support the mission of WikiTree and agree to the Wiki Genealogist Honor Code.

Hello & Welcome, to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile per person.

"Sources are critically important for genealogy. Some even say that genealogy without sources is mythology. Even if you're just a casual family historian recording modern family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from." Feel free to ask questions at our G2G forum. Also, our help pages menu, top right, has some very useful information. Our Honor Code is why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree, so please take some time to read it. Want to join us? Check the volunteer box and leave a brief comment about your genealogical journey. Happy researching!
