David was baptized on 12 April 1779, the son of David Bell and Christian Robertson. He was born in Bowbutts in the town of Strachan in Kincardineshire, Scotland.
He married Elizabeth Ross on 6 December 1810 at Birse, at which time David was said to be of Strachan.
Children, recorded at Strachan:
David resided at Larchmore in Strachan during the 1841 census.[1] The household comprised:
All shown as born in Kincardineshire. (Son David may be the David Bell shown as age 24 who was listed in the household of David's nephew James Brebner.)
He resided again at Larachmore in the 1851 census, the household comprising:[2]
David died in Strachan in 1857.
Many trees make the false claim that he is the David Bell who married Mary Young in Dundee on 3 June 1797. They recorded children, in Dundee:
Aside from it being unlikely that he would have migrated to Dundee and married at the tender age of 18, only to migrate back to Strachan over 10 years later (especially since his sons then returned south to marry and have families ), the baptism of David in 1815, naming his mother Mary Young, makes absolutely clear that this could not have been the same David Bell who marrried Elizabeth Ross in 1810 and then baptized a string of children in Strachan starting in 1811, including one named David in 1816.

Resolution of correct parents needs to occur before a merge can happen. Any help on this would be appreciated. No explicit record is quoted as source of the parents in this profile, although they are widely claimed in other trees. The parents of Bell-14617 are suggested based on circumstantial evidence; again no source record affirms the parentage claim.
