Anthony Harley Mark Bell MC was born about 1891. He was the oldest child of Colonel Mark Bell VC and Nora Roger. His father died in 1906.
Anthony served during the First World War, or The Great War, in the King's Own. He was Mentioned in Despatches and, as a Captain, awarded the Military Cross. His brother, Robert, was killed in action in France in 1916.
Anthony married Lydia Sclater-Booth, daughter of George Sclater-Booth, 2nd Baron Basing, on 11th January 1921 in the Holy Trinity Church, Kensington, London. [1] Their daughter was Rosemary Joan de Houghan Bell, who married Michael Hall and had Rozanne Penelope, Robert Michael and Veronica Rosemary.
Anthony passed away on 5th June 1964 in Romsey, Hampshire, England. His younger sister, who had never married, passed away in 1961.
