Excerpt from The Olds Gazette, Thursday, August 20, 1964, page 4

Ira Martin Lowry, 78, of Sundre, passed away Sunday, August 23, following a brief illness. Born in Walla Walla, Washington, U.S.A., Mr. Lowry moved to the Drumheller district in 1906 and came to Sundre in 1931 where he farmed until retirement in 1958. He was predeceased by one son, David, in 1947 and a brother, Jess. Surviving are his loving wife, Jane, Sundre; 6 sons, John of Vulcan, Walter of Olds, and Bill, Fred, Clarence and Ira all of Sundre; 4 daughters, Mrs. J. (Merle) Bailey of Sylvan Lake, Mrs. R. (Margaret) Schultz of Olds, Mrs. B. (Gladys) Sugg of Edmonton and Mrs. J. (Florence) Ritten of James River; 3 sisters, Mrs. J. Bradley and Mrs. R. Neal, both of Kelowna, B.C. and Mrs. G. Jullian of Washington; 2 brothers, Frank and Bill; 33 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
