Thomas William was born about 1851-1853. [1] He was the son of Thomas Bell and Mary Ann Watson. [2] His parents did move from Drumgrass to Coolreaghs approximately around this time, so Thomas could have been born at either place.
On 27 Oct 1874 at 2nd Cookstown Presbyterian, he married Margaret Hughes, a widow of Cookstown. She was about 15 years his senior. [3] She passed away in 1899.
On 4 Nov 1905 at 2nd Cookstown Presbyterian, he married Mary Jane Spiers of Cookstown , daughter of John Spiers, labourer. Witnessed by Robert Bell and Margaret Devenport Hill. [4] She had a child Thomas James already; who took on the surname Bell , in the 1911 census at least.
He passed away 29 July 1945 age 93. Probate to Thomas Joseph Eastwood, veterinary surgeon. [5] [6] He is buried at Cookstown cemetery, plot OP/C/145. [7]
He may be the same person "Thomas Bell, landlord" of Millburn St in 1904 article letting out premises to William Speer.
In 1940, the funeral of Thomas William Hughes of Millburn St (his stepson) was attended by Thomas Bell sr., Thomas Bell jr., and Ivan Bell. That sounds like this family --- however the 1951 funeral of Hughes' wife was also attended by the same 3, which seems to rule out "Thomas Bell sr." being this profile. Perhaps that actually refers to Thomas William Bell, Ivan, and a brother of Ivan called Thomas?
