Bethel was born about 1811. [1] He was the son of Jack Bellamy. He passed away 1836. [2] He served under his brother-in-law Brigadier General Leigh Read in the 1st Brigade, Florida Militia during the Florida War. [3] He enrolled 10 September 1836 at Tallahassee and perished about two months later, 16 November 1836 and was posthumously promoted to Major. He was twenty-five. [4] He never married.[5]
