Biography

Marie Josephine Bellard, daughter of Antoine Bellard (1780 - <1827) and Marie Jeanne Aucoin (1785 - 1874), was born on 17 March 1805, and her birth was registered in Opelousas, St Landry Parish in pre-statehood Louisiana, USA.[1]

Marie Josephine married Michel Lejeune (1804 - 1860) in a civil ceremony in 1822,[2] which was blessed at St. Landry Catholic Church on 20 April 1824 in Opelousas.[3][4]

Their known children were:

  2. Celestine (LeJeune) Stroder (1827 - ~1884)
  3. Marie Mirza LeJeune (1828 - 1901)
  4. Michel LeJeune (1831 - ~1899)

  7. Edmond Yves LeJeune (1837 - ~1921)
  8. Francois Alcide Lejeune (1839 - 1896)
  9. Amelie LeJeune (1840 - ~1912)
  10. Simon LeJeune (1842 - ~1905)

In 1850, Marie Josephine was living in St Landry Parish, Louisiana.[5] In 1860, Marie Josephine and Michel were living in Opelousas with their son Francois and his family.[6][7]

Marie Josephine died before her succession of 21 August 1874 in Opelousas, Louisiana,[8] and was buried at St. Landry Church Cemetery in Opelousas, Louisiana.[9]
