  2. Helene Madeleine (c1801-1864) m. Jean Baptiste Williams dit Bristol

  8. Pierre (1820-bef.1881) m. Susanne Vatour
  9. Modeste (1824-1852) m. Andre Lirette

Research Notes

Since we don't have any records that show Regis's age, his year of birth is estimated based on his wife's approximate year of birth. His parents were married in 1770.

Regis was the son of Paul Bellefontaine and Rosalie Comeau according to Stephen White[4]. In the marriage record for Luc Bellefontaine, it says that Luc was the son of Paul Bellefontaine and Rose Comeau, and one of the witnesses was "Regis Bellefontaine, frère" (brother)[5].

In the marriage record for Regis's son Pierre Bellefontaine and Suzanne Vautour, they were granted a dispensation for for a fourth degree of consanginuity[6]. In other words, they should share great-great grandparents. This provides evidence that Regis is the son of Rosalie Comeau the daughter of Jean Comeau, since Pierre and his wife Suzanne appear to be second cousins once removed through Jean Comeau.

Bellafontaine-2 and Bellefontaine-20 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse, same daughter Madeleine married to Honoré Fougère. Dates of birth are estimated in both profiles. Since he was married around 1800, it is unlikely that Régis was born around 1792. Merging into Bellefontaine-20 which is the correct spelling for this name.
