Biography

Rosalie Bellefontaine was born on 6 Nov 1809 and baptized in Memramcook the next day, the daughter of Régis Bellefontaine and Scholastique Bourgeois.[1] Her godparents were Etienne Richard and Julie Leblanc.

She married Pierre Goguen, son of Sévère Goguen and Apolline Saulnier in Barachois on 24 Jan 1831.[2] Witnesses were Eusebe McGraw, cousin, Fabien Boudrot, friend of the groom, Regis Bellefontaine, father, and Thomas Leblanc, cousin of the bride.

In the 1861 census Rosalie (age 52) lived in Dundas, New Brunswick.[3] She lived with her husband "Peter" (53) and children Catherine (20), Rose (17), Fidel (14), Vetal (9), and Adeline (11). The household of her son David was listed next to them in the census.

In the 1871 census Rosalie (age 60) lived in Dundas, Kent, New Brunswick.[4] She was listed with her husband Pierre (61) and children Vital (19) and Adele (20).

She was buried on 20 Sep 1873 in Cocagne, under the name Marie Fontaine.[5] The age given on her burial record was 66 years, the wife of Pierre Gueguen.
