Biography

Madeleine Belliveau was born about 1654 in Port Royal, Acadia..[1] She was the daughter of Antoine Béliveau and Andrée Guyon.[1] Her name was mentioned in the first Acadian census in 1671 at Port-Royal. She was 17 years of age at the time, living with her parents and her older brother Jean.[2]

She married Germain Bourgeois, son of Jacques Bourgeois and Jeanne Trahan, around 1673. [1]

They had 3 children:[3]

  1. Guillaume BOURGEOIS ca 1674-1747
  2. Marie Josèphe BOURGEOIS ca 1677-/1705
  3. Michel BOURGEOIS ca 1679-

Madeleine passed away at about 27 years of age between 1679 when her last child was born, and 1682 when Germain remarried. [1] According to certain family trees, she is buried in the Garrison Graveyard in Annapolis Royal, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada. [4][5] However, there are no existing original records to support that claim.

Germain fathered 10 more children with his 2nd wife Madeleine Dugas.

Belleveau-5 and Belliveau-45 appear to represent the same person because: This is a duplicate profile, please note per FAG name should be spelled with an "e" "Belleveau"

I have initiated a merger request Belleveau-5, per FAG research name should be spelled with an "e" Belleveau not Belliveau.

Likely a duplicate of Belliveau-45 (same dates, although one is Marguerite and one Madeleine: Marguerite is probably the more-correct first name).
