Descendants of Jacob Overman, Sr. (1652-1715) who emigrated from Saxony prior to 1672, came to America, and settled in Connecticut. He married twice: (1) Hannah (ca. 1654-1692) and (2) Dorothy Porter in 1695. Sometime after 1695 Jacob and his family migrated to North Carolina. His descendants lived in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Indiana, and elsewhere. (Description from FamilySearch Family History Library Online Catalog). Note: The information in Overman Express is in dispute. Reputed Overman researcher, Joyce Overman Bowman states that no evidence supports Jacob Overman being German, and he was more likely born in England, where the family name has existed since at least 1500.
